About Us

In building this website, I recently had the chance to sit down with CalPro Engineers, CEO, Mansour Ahmadi and ask him a few questions about the drive behind his new company:

Q: How long have you been an engineer?
A: “29 years. I studied at the University of AaLborg Denmark, Graduating with a Master in Engineering.
Required for graduation was a “fresh idea”. Mine was an ozone water filtration System still in use in Denmark today. I have a professional engineering license in the state of California.”

Q: Why CalPro Engineering & Design?
A: “To have my own company where I make the decisions that are best for the client in terms of cost benefits while never forgetting the primary focus is always on customer service.”

Q: Can you elaborate a bit.
A: “Sure! For example, a faster response on all requests means projects go smoother and are completed on or ahead of schedule. Another example: I work directly with the architect, designer and contractor so there are no communication delays. Response time is always well under 24 hours.”

Q: What do you think sets you part?
A: “I spend a lot of time in the initial framing of the building in order to find the most effective, most cost conscious approach to take. I will design the foundation several times even to see which works out best given construction budget limits.”

“Also, I work closely with the architects on all of my projects. It is the only way to keep costs in check. It’s important to remember that architects are great at visual designs, but it takes an engineer to turn a vision into a build-able structure. My strength lies in doing the job with great skill and creativity when it comes to staying within budget without trading off on the uniqueness or integrity of the project.”

“My aim to make every working relationship great. This allows me to make turn any design into a reality. This is my passion.”

“I can promise you will always work directly with me. I’ve found this is the best way to guarantee the quality I have become known for.”

“I have been lucky in that much of my business has come from referrals. Referrals from architects, referrals from city planners, and also referrals from past clients who tell their friend and business associates.”

Q: How have new construction materials affected what you do?
A: “I enjoy keeping up with new products and materials coming onto the market. It means I can keep giving my clients something new and exciting. It means I can integrate new construction techniques supported by newer materials.”

Q: I see you are in Laguna Beach.
A: “Yes. I work with as many as 90% or the local architects. The unusual topography and the stunning views produce some very exciting structures. There seems to be no end to the request for ever more and more unique, elegant, one-of-a-kind custom homes here and I’m excited to be a part of this activity.”

Q: What are some of the projects of which you are most proud?
A: “An all glass house in Newport Beach is one that comes to mind. Another unusual project was a 90-unit apartment with a subterranean garage in Pomona, CA.”

“In closing let me say that I am always ready to help all my clients and do all in my power to make the project come to life at every step of the way.”
